A very pregnant Pacific Harbour Seal!

Today’s Sightings: Humpback Whales (Argonaut, Pisa, and unknown), Dall’s Porpoises, Steller Sea Lions, Pacific Harbour Seals, Bald Eagles, Common Murres, Rhinoceros Auklets.

What is that bright light in the sky? Oh right, the sunshine! Today we slapped on our shades and took off across an amazingly calm Johnstone Strait into Blackfish Sound. There were Pacific Harbour Seals hauled out on the rocks also enjoying the weather, we spotted some pups with their mothers and some pregnant females. Some Steller Sea Lions splashed along the shoreline as well. We also spotted Argonaut the Humpback Whale and some Dall’s Porpoises speeding along foraging for food.

The Coastal Mountains and Stubbs Island.

Water runs off the tail of Argonaut the Humpback Whale as he dives down.

A Steller Sea Lion porpoises right out of the water!

See the “A” in the pigmentation of Argonaut’s fluke?

The stunning scenery of Vancouver Island and Telegraph Cove behind some Pacific Harbour Seals with young.
