Friday, June 22 – MV Lukwa

Our Marine Wildlife Tour proved to be very exciting for our guests on both our morning and afternoon trips! On the morning trip the Lukwa sailed calm seas. Guests and crew were treated to up to 400 Pacific white-sided dolphins! One of the many highlights on our trips today! We were also thrilled to sight three humpback whales, “KC,” “Twister,” and one unknown humpback. Perhaps it is the same unknown humpback that we have been spotting on our tours for the past couple of days! On our afternoon trip we sighted “KC” and “Twister” once again! Other marine mammals we saw today included: 18 Dall’s porpoises and approximately 20 harbour seals. A fantastic day for marine mammal sightings!

We also had lots of great bird sightings today! On both our morning and afternoon trips we observed lots of bald eagles and hundreds of rhinoceros auklets. Our guests and crew on our morning trip were also excited to see two harlequin ducks. All in all we had an absolutely fantastic day!
