Mother’s Day was a beautiful way to start the 2012 season.  We have been very lucky with our weather over the past few days, and Sunday was no exception!  Captain Wayne and returning naturalist Carmen (back for her third season!) took a small group out to see what we could find in the sunshine.

Along with the incredible scenery, the snow capped mountains and calm seas, we also were fortunate enough to view some marine mammals!  Dall’s porpoise were spotted, as well as about 40 harbour seals.  There were also about 75 Steller sea lions hauled out on the rocks in the sun.  Birds sighted included 8 bald eagles, including 2 immature, 6 Harlequin ducks and a pelagic cormorant.

As we are still quite early in the season, if you are interested in a Marine Wildlife Tour, please call to check availability on your chosen date.  Looking forward to another great season!
